Looking back on 2023 My Streetscape Summer Research Institute: Where is Eunice Yanes now?

Our 2023 My Streetscape Summer Research Institute participants have exciting updates on their plans, and insightful reflections on the CS3 experience.

Eunice Yanes shared a standout memory from CS3, her upcoming plans, and research areas of interest:

“Hi! My name is Eunice Yanes, a My Streetscape Summer Research Institute alumna and a graduating senior from Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics.

“Working with CS3 during my summer as a rising senior was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had! One of my most memorable experiences was walking around Columbia’s open campus and conducting interviews with pedestrians and all types of Harlem residents; I had to really get out of my comfort zone to have the courage to talk to people I didn’t know. I’m really grateful I was a part of something like this and that I was able to have so much insight in people’s opinions on the new technology that is being made to improve safety.

“This fall, I will be majoring in engineering physics at Fordham University, where I hope I can continue my journey to an engineering degree and become a part of their incredible community.

“I hope to have the opportunity to research many different areas, including quantum physics, chemistry, and astronomy!”
