As urban areas face threats to livability, safety, and inclusion, it is the streetscape — neighborhood streets, sidewalks, and shared spaces — where a city becomes a home.
The Center for Smart Streetscapes (CS3) is a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center taking a unique approach to streetscape research by uniting community members, researchers, students, government officials, and industry partners.

Our work makes streets more livable, safe, and inclusive through research with Columbia University, Lehman College, Rutgers University, Florida Atlantic University, and University of Central Florida, as well as three testbed facilities. We work on five engineering and scientific areas, also known as "Research Thrusts."
